Research projects

The projects RETRO and ReCap focus on the establishment of a closed material cycle for carbon fibres and cfrp. Besides the idea of sustainable production and efficient use of material, the project will strengthen the location Baden-Württemberg and its industry.

reCaP: process development for recycling of carbon fibers in production processes

  • Determination of the mechanical properties of juvenile and reclycled carbon fibers  via single fiber tensile test and classification of the recycling strategies according to the fiber damage
  • Characterization of the component behavior of specimen with recycled carbon fibers and identification of the fiber-matrix-adhesion
