The Institute of Applied Materials - Reliability of Systems and Components (IAM-ZBS) engages in research and teaching in the area of security and reliability assessment of component parts.
The IAM-ZBS preferetially uses methods of model building and numerical simulation. It combines atomistic methods with micro structural specifications and continuum mechanical analysis.
We conduct our research work with national cooperations and international partners and with a very tight intermeshing with the Institute of Applied Materials - Werkstoff- und Biomechanik (IAM-WBM) in Campus Nord and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Mechanics IWM.
Within the framework of the Emmy-Noether-Programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) the IAM-ZBS hosts the Emmy-Noether young scientists groups Biomaterials Interfaces and Dynamics of sliding metal surfaces.
