Welcome to IAM-KWT
The Institute for Applied Materials is an interdisciplinary research institute performing materials research from their atomic structure up to their function in the product. The collaborative work within the 8 IAM units enable the bridging between materials development, process technology, and systems integration.
The focus of IAM - Ceramic Materials and Technologies is on non-metallic inorganic materials, particularly on structural and functional ceramics. Our main research interest lies in the tailoring and precise functionalization of interfaces of porous ceramics and metal-ceramic hybrids for relevant applications, building a bridge between materials science and manufacturing engineering. Our research work is organized according to three main research trusts: (Nano)structured materials, Sinter-based functional materials, and Functionalization of powders and porous components by ALD and MLD. For further details and to learn more about our current as past projects, check the tab “Research”.
