Karlsruhe has hourly ICE connections in the direction of Mannheim/Cologne, and Freiburg/Basel. Current train connections are available on the Internet from the electronic timetable information of Deutsche Bahn (DB).
After arriving at Karlsruhe main station you have the possibility to continue your journey by taxi or by public transport.
When leaving the main station through the main entrance, you will find a taxi rank on your left. After a short drive (approx. 10 min), to the institute address mentioned above, you will reach the institute. The IAM-ET premises are located on the third floor of the rear building.
Leave Karlsruhe main station through the main entrance. At the station forecourt take a tram line 2 (direction Wolfartsweier), line 3 (direction Rintheim) or S4 (direction Eppingen) and get off at Durlacher Tor/KIT-Campus Süd. You need a ticket for two zones. Get off at the Durlacher Tor stop (travel time approx. 10 min). Walk along the Abenauerring, past the greenhouse of the botanical institute of the university. After passing under a pedestrian bridge, turn right at the next junction onto the grounds of the Environmental Research Center (10 min walk). The institute is located in the rear building on the third floor.
For more information about public transport in Karlsruhe, please contact the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV).
Leave the motorway A5 at the Exit 44 Karlsruhe-Durlach. If you are coming from Frankfurt or Basel, you are already on the A5; if you are coming from Stuttgart / Munich, you will need to change from A8 onto A5 at the junction Karlsruhe and head into the direction of Frankfurt (next exit).
Take the B10 in the direction of Karlsruhe (not Karlsruhe-Durlach!). Take a right at the 5th set of traffic lights ("Durlacher Tor") which is at St.-Bernhard Church (built of red limestone), the signs there read: "Neureut/Universität/Stadion". You are now on Adenauerring and having passed under a pedestrians' bridge, take the next right onto the site of the Forschungszentrum Umwelt. There is parking space in front of the complex to the left.
The institute is situated in the rear building on the 3rd floor.
