Lecture content



The modeling of electrochemical systems is a multiscale problem. While the charge transfer at the electrode/electrolyte interface takes place on an atomic scale, strongly simplified submodels for the system components are required for system modeling, which allow a real-time simulation of the system operation.

In the lecture, current electrochemical models for batteries and fuel cells are presented on the different levels, the experimental determination of the model parameters is discussed and examples for model validation are shown.

In the lecture, the participants are introduced to the basics of electrochemical modelling using selected examples from the research areas of batteries and fuel cells.
