Job description

  • Characterize microstructures and dislocation structure of advanced alloys for high-temperature applications using SEM and TEM
  • Prepare micro-specimens (e.g., micro-pillars, micro-cantilevers) using FIB
  • Analyze deformation and fracture mechanisms by correlating micro-mechanical tests with microstructural and defect analysis
  • Collaborate with partners for APT analysis of elemental segregation at defects
  • Process and interpret experimental data using Python-based workflows
  • Publish research results and present at international conferences

Personal qualification

  • Excellent academic record and a Master’s degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field
  • Experience with structural characterization of crystalline materials, preferably using SEM, TEM, or related electron-microscopy techniques
  • A reliable and independent working style, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in German is an advantage but not mandatory
