Motivation

Higher ranges of cycling frequencies reduce testing time for fatigue tests of engineering steels

Objectives

Validation of fatigue testing procedures, guidelines and recommendations for suitable testing practises as a function of the frequency for time reduction and reliable data

Methods

  • Fatigue tests including strength and crack growth rate with different levels of cycling frequency in cooperation with several european partners
  • Cyclic uniaxial, torsion, 3-point-bending and component tests with different R ratios
